What is a hands-free system?
A hands-free system is high-tech equipment that allows you to hold a conversation while driving, without having to hold the cell phone. Hands-free systems range from wired ear-buds to speakerphones to plug-in-style equipment, to integrated Bluetooth®-enabled systems that mute the stereo when a call comes in. This last version is what EasyHandsFree considers the best solution on the market - the integrated system that takes over for your phone and uses the stereo to transmit calls.
What is Bluetooth®?
Bluetooth® is a wireless technology used to communicate from one device to another in a small area - usually less than 30 feet. Think of it as an invisible wire. A Bluetooth®-enabled cell phone can send a call to an earpiece or a hands-free system, allowing you to communicate without holding the phone. When using a hands-free system, the phone can be anywhere in the car, it does not have to be visible or out in the open.
Do all cell phones work with a hands-free system?
No. Only phones that are Bluetooth®-enabled work with the systems. Make sure your cellphone has Bluetooth® capabilities. Even then, some cell phones are limited in their Bluetooth® functionality, which may affect usage of all other Bluetooth® devices. (This means that your cell phone provider told the phone manufacturer to only build-in certain Bluetooth® functions.) Please call EasyHandsFree and we can help you determine the functionally of your cell phone.
Do I need a hands-free system when I have Bluetooth®?
If your vehicle does not have a Bluetooth® hands-free system pre-installed, then an integrated system from EasyHandsFree will help you to enjoy the full benefits of your Bluetooth® cell phone. There are many options of hands-free system, but EasyHandsFree's fully-integrated solutions from Parrot and THBury are well worth the investment.
How will the hands-free system integrate with my car stereo?
Integrated systems are designed to work with most factory-installed car stereos, and they take over the stereo when a call comes in. The system automatically mutes the stereo when a call is made or received, and the call audio is routed through your speakers. To enable this, EasyHandsFree uses custom-made adapters to ensure a great connection between the hands-free system and your stereo. *Please note that audio integration and audio muting cannot be guaranteed on every vehicle, due to vehicle manufacturer limitations.
Why can't I use my earpiece for hands free cell phone use?
You may. However, you will not receive the following benefits of an installed hands-free system: audio being delivered via your vehicle’s speakers; an easy-to-read caller ID; better call quality; the convenience of having the phone anywhere in the vehicle; voice-activated commands for dialing; notification of incoming calls; automatic muting of the stereo. *Some of these features are dependent on the type of hands-free system.
How will I hear the call over the noise of the vehicle?
Our fully-integrated hands-free systems use the stereo system to bring your call to you at the same volume of your radio (it’s adjustable, too) and the system automatically mutes your stereo when a call comes in. If your stereo is off, the call still comes through at a preset volume. *Volume is set by the system, not the stereo.
How will the other caller hear me over the noise of the car?
Hands-free systems from Parrot and THBury have sophisticated directional microphones that are very sensitive to voice yet able to block out engine and external road noises. In addition, DSP (Digital Signal Processing) technology reduces background noise - further enhancing sound quality. You will never need to shout or raise your voice when using your hands-free system from EasyHandsFree.
Are there different types and quality systems?
Yes. There are inferior products on the market, but EasyHandsFree offers only the highest quality products available. We test all models to ensure 100% customer satisfaction, and we use them every day in our own vehicles!
Will this kit be obsolete soon, like everything else in the cell phone world?
No! With technology advancing all the time, of course there will be new products out in the future. However, the Bluetooth® software in all of our systems is easy to upgrade. If you get a phone that requires new Bluetooth® software, EasyHandsFree can load your hands-free system with the latest version, so you can continue to use it. You will probably have your hands-free system longer than several phones. *If this is necessary, there will be a nominal fee for the upgrade visit.
Why is an adapter/wiring harness needed to install these systems?
Europe is the world leader in design and production of hands-free systems, and the ones EasyHandsFree installs are from European companies. European radio connectors are mostly a standard ISO type, so the systems come with ISO connectors. US vehicles are different - even those manufactured in Europe for the US, so trying to connect a hands-free system with a US stereo is like trying to put a square peg into a round hole. Instead of trying to cut, match and splice wires, there are custom adapters designed to fit perfectly in most US vehicles - often without cutting or splicing a single wire! Not cutting wires means no issues with electronics warranties, and it ensures all the functionality of the hands-free system. Plus, EasyHandsFree can take a system out of your vehicle easily, and you can have the same device installed in future vehicles.
